This course focuses on detail from the Equality Act 2010 and is designed to provide suitable and valid information on promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in individuals. The course details the nine protected characteristics and challenges your own perception of these.
Introduction to Equality & Diversity
In this module you will learn to:
- Have a better understanding of the Equality Act 2010
- Refine own attitudes towards equality and diversity
- Understand employer responsibilities
- Have knowledge surrounding the protected characteristics that are covered by law

- Understand available complaint procedures
- Understand the term discrimination and be able to recognise the different types
Equality & Diversity in the Workplace
In this module you will learn to:
- Gain a basic understanding of the Equality Act 2010
- Understand employer responsibilities
- Understand what is meant by Positive Action
- Identify hidden barriers to Equality in the workplace
Protected Characteristics
In this module you will learn to:
- Have knowledge surrounding the protected characteristics that are covered by law
- Be able to identify each protected characteristic as defined in the Equality Act 2010
Discrimination
In this module you will learn to:
- Understand the term discrimination
- Identify and recognise direct and indirect discrimination
- Understand disability discrimination
- Understand associative discrimination
Prohibited Conduct
In this module you will learn to:
- Understand the term prohibited conduct
- Identify and understand harassment and third party harassment
- Identify and understand bullying
- Understand the terms victimisation, prejudice and stereotyping
