This basic first aid training course was developed to provide information on how to act safely and effectively in the event of an incident requiring first aid or medical assistance. The course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and confidence in administering first aid, but does not provide you with the competence to do so as there is no practical assessment.

Understand how to deal with a breathing and non-breathing casualty
Using an AED
In this module you will learn to:
Understand the term AED
Understand and identify the chain of survival
Identify the considerations required when using an AED
Dealing with a choking casualty
In this module you will learn to:
Understand the differences between a partial and a complete obstruction of the upper airway
Identify the signs and indicators of choking
Understand how to effectively treat choking with back slaps and abdominal thrusts
Dealing with wounds, bleeding and infection control
In this module you will learn to:
Identify and differentiate between the 3 main vessels in the body
Understand and identify internal bleeding
Identify and treat the types of bleeding that may occur
