Safeguarding Awareness

This course is an introduction to safeguarding children and looks at the common indicators of abuse and neglect – Highlighting responsibilities and addressing concerns and suspicious. This course is designed to equip you with sufficient knowledge and provide confidence in dealing with suspected cases of harm towards children.

• Identify key organisations that have a safeguarding duty 
• Identify statutory and non-statutory documents relative to safeguarding 
• Identify key legislation and guidance for safeguarding 

Your responsibilities in Safeguarding

In this module you will learn to:

• Understand your own responsibility in safeguarding 
• Understand how safeguarding is relevant to your role
• Define 'Child Abuse'

Recognising the signs of Abuse

In this module you will learn to:

• Identify signs and indicators of abuse 
• Understand and identify the categories of abuse 
• Understand other forms of abuse 

How to respond to concerns & what to do in the event of disclosure

In this module you will learn to:

• Understand how to respond to a disclosure 
• Identify the 4 key steps to take in the event of a disclosure 
• Understand confidentiality in disclosures

Reporting concerns when there is a Child Protection issue

In this module you will learn to:

• Identify who reports can be made to in relation to safeguarding 
• Understand when to report a concern
• Understand the process of a safeguarding referral
